Geraldine Knight

Introduction
Geraldine Knight studied sculpture at Brighton College of Art and the Royal Academy Schools where she was awarded the Prix de Rome scolarship which enabled her to spend two years in Rome.

At the beginning of her career she worked with architects creating decorative panels, architectural models and individual sculptures combined with teaching. This was a great experience and a very good time to experiment with new ideas and materials.

However, on moving from London to live in the countryside in 1973, she decided to return to representational work modelling in clay and casting into bronze and unexpectedly becoming interested in the farm animals as subjects for her sculpture.

Livestock markets inspired groups of animals and a group of sheep exhibited at the Royal Academy summer exhibition in 1986 was a tremendous success.

She is currently interested in various aspects of the human figure as well as continuing to study animals.

Most of her work is in private collections throughout the world. Commissions include life size sculptures of animals, commemorations, awards, portraits and fountains.

She lives and works in Oxford and Venice.
